Over a short period of time Bentech Assistive Technologies has established a group of highly capable, innovative, skilled and creative people who are deeply committed to the organisation. The core work of the organisation is in the fields of electronics, software engineering and mechatronics, but the organisation also has ready access to therapists, business advisors, lawyers and experts in the aged and disability sector.

The Board

Richard Allen - Managing Director of the Project
Training in industrial design and teaching, in design and technology teaching in secondary education, experience-secondary design and technology teaching, establishing and operating small businesses, design, developing and patenting new equipment.

Gabrielle Brown - Co-Founder and Secretary
Teacher with specialisation in ESL and library studies, chair of several not for profit organisations, volunteer for a disability organisation and firsthand experience with persons with a disability

Tony Brown - BenTech Co-Founder and Director
Training in design and technology teaching, physics and engineering, extensive experience in secondary and tertiary education as a teacher, Head of Department and Deputy Principal and university lecturer, experience in designing and developing.

Tim Hantke - Promotions and Marketing Consultant
At present the CEO of two consulting organisations and has been CEO of large national companies and chair of a national not for profit organisation.

Dr Jenny Lalor- Research consultant
Works with staff and students at Curtin University as a consultant in questionnaire/survey design, statistical analysis and conducts training courses in SPSS statistical package.

Tony Lalor – Consultant and Treasurer
Extensive experience in banking, IT and voice systems. Has run his own private business for many years.

Dr Derek Milton – Consultant
Extensive experience in business establishment and consultation, lecturing UWA, and practical experience with voice recognition systems.

Advisory and Consulting

Professor Marc Tennant - Bentech Co-Founder and consultant
Winthrop Professor UWA, extensive experience, research and development in the dental, medical and research areas, strong advocate of social justice for low income communities.

Dr Marina Ciccarelli - Senior Occupational Therapist
On the staff of Curtin University School of Occupational Therapy and Social Work. Has extensive experience in a wide area of occupational therapy and research methods.

Denham Dunstall - Technical consultant
Extensive background in electronics, software development and mechatronics, at present the Director of Exhibition Design and Development at Scitech.

Nicola Hunter- Senior Occupational Therapist
On the staff of Fiona Stanley Hospital with extensive experience in assistive technology with application to persons with quadriplegia.

Sally Hunter- Occupational Therapy Consultant
On the staff of the Independent Living Centre of WA as Manager Assistive Equipment Services with extensive experience in assistive technology.

Professor Rachel Cardell-Oliver- Communications and Software Consultant
On the staff University of Western Australia with research interests in wireless sensor networks; computing education; and formal methods in software engineering.

Kerry Hoath- Accessibility Specialist
Working with Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired at VisAbility to employ software solutions to aid those with vision impairment.

Dr Iain Murray- Electrical and Computer Engineering
On the staff of Curtin University with research interests in the field of Assistive Technology, particularly systems and methods to allow access to education for people with sensory disabilities.
